Meet Your Alderman

Alderman Felix Cardona Jr. was born and raised in Logan Square to Puerto Rican parents who were small business owners in the community. A proud product of Chicago’s public schools and university system, he has lived in Hermosa and has called Belmont Cragin home since 2011. His lifelong connection to the area gives him a deep understanding of the community’s needs, both residential and commercial.

Before taking office, Alderman Cardona served 24 years in Cook County Government. A graduate of Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary, he once considered a life of religious service but felt a stronger calling to serve his community through public service. His experience and dedication to people have shaped his hands-on, compassionate approach to leadership.

His vision for the ward includes restoring aging infrastructure and bringing in new resources to help the community grow and thrive. A strong advocate of “shop local, support local,” Alderman Cardona works to uplift small businesses and foster economic development throughout the ward.

As alderman, he listens to his constituents with an open mind, regardless of agreement. Whether working in the neighborhood or representing the ward in City Hall, he remains committed to acting in the best interests of the residents and building a better future for all.
